Batch Airfoil Update:
We strongly recommend that you open V9.7 Airfoil Maker and do a batch airfoil update on all of your custom models before copying them in to X-Plane V10. If any of our airfoils fail this test please notify us immediately..
X-Plane 10 Models:
We will not be updating any existing or creating new models for X-Plane 10 until it is out of beta. Thank you for your understanding.

Partners

Alaska Aviation Heritage Museum
STMA is creating a series of aircraft owned by the Alaska Heritage Museum. These X-Plane models will be flown by visitors on their custom built simulators.

FlyThisSim
STMA is proud to partner with FlyThisSim. Check out their awesome avionics packages.

AlphaTrainer
Shade Tree Micro Aviation is proud to support Alpha Trainer. This plugin helps train proper flight dynamics. If you are interest in learning more about Alphe Trainer, click on the link or picture below and you will be redirected to their website.

Fly Away Simulations
The most complete flight simulator website featuring flight simulator downloads, news and add-ons for Microsoft Flight, FSX, FS2004 and X-Plane.

Our Crew
Shade Tree Micro Aviations Crew is made up of painters, designers, real pilots, and technical experts.

We bring real aircraft into X-Plane using pilot operating manuals, aircraft operations manuals, and experience. This ensures our aircraft are as realistic as they can be within the X-Plane world.

We truly hope you enjoy our models and plugin. Please provide us feedback (good or bad) so that future models and updates meet your expectations.

Our Values
STMA creates these models and plugins because it brings great joy. It takes hundreds of hours of research, design, and development for each model, and that doesn't include the time needed to keep them current. Please do not share our hard work with others. The cost is minimal.
Jim McNeill
Jim McNeill, Papa Mac to his friends, is the owner of Papa Mac Enterprises (PME) and is the primary flight model and 3D panel guy. He has been flying for over 48 years and when he is not hunched over a computer in the design shop he can be found teaching his grandkids to fly in the family Cessna 182, which is featured as an X-Plane model, or is busy flying other peoples airplanes and helicopters. Shannon will not let him near a texture for good reason.... A four year-old with crayons can draw better than he does.

Kerry Cross
Kerry Cross, Forty-three years under the belt as a designer of many persuasions. Originally an automotive industrial designer with GM Holden in Melbourne Australia for 13 years, then got involved in both 2D and 3D computer graphics in the eighties and have operated my graphic design company using computer technology ever since. After seeing a flight simulator on a Silicon Graphics machine back then, I became totally hooked on flight sims, then discovered X-Plane in 2005. Mostly involved in the graphics side and developing new aircraft skins for STMA at this stage, but will venture into 3D modelling when more time permits. Spare time is for my kids, family and friend and the end of the day, X-Planing through the virtual skies.

Bob Feaver
Bob is well known on X-Plane sites as "Blue Side Up, Bob" and he has been with us from 2007. He's our resident plug-in expert, having authored such unique creations as ChaseViewDeluxe external view and camera platform and HangarOps which animates hangar doors and allows you to push back and turn your airplane around. Bob is the author of the unique animated pilot and passenger figures that appear in all STMA models. His favourite projects combine custom animations with plugins to create classic instruments like the Earth Inductor Compass found in the Southern Cross. When not applying his X-Plane skills he is busy with his family, playing stand-up bass, and enjoying the outdoor life at his lake-side home north of Toronto.

Mark Roberts
Our Webmaster is Mark Roberts. He is the one that keeps the site up and hopefully all the links working. Complain to him if you find anything not working correctly. Mark retired from the US Army in 2007 with 22 years of service. He hangs his hat in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Todd Denning
Todd introduced himself to us as a volunteer consultant to the Husky project and decided to join in for other projects. He is a CFII/MEI, holder of an Airline Transport Pilot rating, and a USPA D-license Expert parachutist. He is involved professionally in education and simulation training and backcountry/mountain flight training. When not teaching in his real Husky he works on a wide range of projects we hope to bring to the STMA line. Look for them in the near future!

Benjamin Whitehead
I fell in love with aviation at age 11 in Anchorage Alaska, where I grew up. I managed to spend as much time with pilots as possible, becoming close friends with the son of ERA Alaska's chief pilot, thereby scoring some great check out rides on various helicopters on the weekends. My dream of entering the Air-Force and becoming a pilot were stalled when my vision degraded to less than perfect, so I turned to the study of aeronautics and electrical engineering. I learned CAD and 3D modeling as a part of the engineering curriculum, and found a way to work as a part-time designer to work my way through school. I am currently a professional software/hardware engineer developing storage solutions, specifically Solid State Disk Drives, or SSDs. If your computer can load X-Plane in four seconds, you probably have one. I discovered X-Plane in 2008, having been an MSFS guy before then, and promptly discovered plugin writing. With that, the dream of working in aviation was suddenly reborn for me, and I've been happily writing plugins since then.

Pilatus PC-12
I'm really digging this PC-12 version.

I'm an aerospace engineer, specializing in aircraft performance. I just wrapped up a PC-12 project which required digitizing some of the POH performance. I just spent an hour or so comparing the simulated performance climb, cruise, and descent performance against POH values and must say, I'm impressed with how close things track the POH values. I have not yet looked at field performance, but will try to get to that tomorrow.

Overall, very nice job in every respect! Well, well worth the cost in my opinion. And so much fun to fly because of the realism modeled!.
Aviat Husky
Thanks for the great conversion of the Aviat Husky, it is the best aircraft release that i know for X-Plane! The model and the cockpit are very well made and it flies fantastic.

Greetings from Germany

Aviat Husky
I just got around to checking out your Husky and it's simply a beautiful model. X-Plane designers have come a long way since I first starting toying around back in V6. This model is worth every last cent! Thank you for your work, and providing several different models to boot!

Jason Baker
Thank You!
Thanks for all of the timely updates and for taking your time out to make a modification like this to help those out who were unhappy with the reflections. I love them myself but you RARELY see anyone give you the best of both worlds.

Keep up the good work and with these speedy recent updates you have a customer for life in me! :)

Glass Objects
Hi Peter and Jim, just wanted to let you know that the new glass object works PERFECTLY! I no longer have the tearing like before and everything is great.

Thank you so much for making the extra effort to fix it. This is one of my favorite planes and it's great to have it working properly.

And Peter, keep up the great work on those liveries! They're really beautiful and add a lot to the plane.

Cheers and thanks again,
Matt
HangarOps
Everything is working well. I have just programmed some keyboard commands as you suggested and boy is this easy and fun to do. Sure makes parking a lot easier. ( wanders off into dream-- wonder if I can do something similar to help park the car in the driveway ..... )

Cheers
John Pugh
Super Cub
I can't say enough good things about this plane. I have a private pilot license and a flew a 1946, 90 hp, Piper Cub, 30 years ago and this model seems to be so true to my memories of that flying experience. Well done! I love the 3-D cockpit and the way that I can switch viewing angles so quickly and easily, almost like the real deal. I also logged quite a few hours in a Cessna 182, so after the Cub, I also bought the Skylane model. I know is slightly older model, but still another great plane.

Keep up the good work.

Best Regards
Thomas Buckman
