STMA is creating a series of aircraft owned by the Alaska Aviation Heritage Museum.
These X-Plane models will be flown by visitors on their custom built simulators
Here is what Norm LaGasse, museum executive director, has to say about our O-1 Bird
Dog on skis which is currently in use on their simulator: "Ole Dog on skis is a hit
with the visitors. They really enjoy the the challenge of trying to land her on the
mountain glaciers." He is anticipating even more excitement when they can fly their own
aircraft on simular exciting adventures.
The first is a replica of a Bronco in the livery of the U.S. Marines. The second is a
replica of a Bronco in the livery of the California Division of Forestry (CDF). Both were
constructed with the aid of the Type Certificate Data Sheet (TCDS) and NATOPS Flight Manual.
The models have a single power lever "Power Management Control System" (PMCS), which is much
like that inthe Cirrus SR22. The Marine version is armed with 6machineguns, 2 16 2.75"
Folding Fin Aerial Rocket (FFAR) pods, and a 300Gal external fuel tank. The panel has been
modernized with GPS and an A/P. The CDF version is set up as an air-attack airplane and is
in active use doing wild fire reconnaissance and lead-plane duties in California even as
this document is being typed.
An alternate 3D cockpit that has no pilots is included for those who desire it.
The Model features:
Transparent windows, detailed 3D cockpit &instrument panel!
A realistic instrument panel with gauges that are as close to those installed
in the real airplane as X-Plane permits.
The fuselage crew/cargo pod. Click on the cargo door button or press the "6"
key and watch the aft end of the fuselage swing open to show the cargo compartment.
Press "5" to close it.
A very accurate and realistic paint job by master painter Shannon Boatman.
Documents include performance charts and checklists extracted from the U.S. Navy
and U.S. Air Force Pilot Operating Handbook (POH).
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU READ THE README.TXT FILE LOCATED IN THE AIRPLANE'S FOLDER FOR
